“GIVE THE DRUMMER SOME” Benefit

GIVE THE DRUMMER SOME (Press Release) 1-20-25 Is a fundraiser produced by Tune In & Tune Up (T-2) to benefit RI Musicians and Music workers who might find themselves in need of Medical or Mental Health assistance. And to bring together some local Kick-Ass Drummers, to celebrate banging on the drum for a day! Within the last 3 months Tune In & Tune Up (T-2) has become our own Non-Profit Organization. We are still connected to the RI Music Hall of Fame in spirit, but we now can move in any direction we wish concerning the health of our RI Music community. To date we have re-donated over $25,000 dollars back to our community. We have big plans for more programs, including a new website that will share resources and information pertaining to our health awareness topic. There are many details that we will be working through in the months to come, this intro letter is to get you all updated for where we are now. Here are some things to think about. Thank you. GA-20

Since 2018, GA-20 has been at the forefront of a traditional Blues revival. The dynamic throwback trio have long been disciples of the place where traditional Blues, Country and Rock ‘n’ Roll intersect. “We make records that we would want to listen to,” says guitarist Matthew Stubbs. “Stubbs, along with guitarist & vocalist Cody Nilsen and drummer Josh Kiggans, strive to bring traditional Blues to the front lines of the modern roots music scene. “The focus for us has always been on the story, the melody, and on creating a mood,” Stubbs continues. “Traditional Country and Soul have all had these massive recent revivals. We want to be part of doing that for traditional Blues music.” Performing with what feels like reckless abandon, GA-20 brings a timeless immediacy to every song they play with a sound that continues to grow and evolve. The band uses vintage instruments and amps to produce their authentic sound, and favours traditional recording techniques, like recording live off the floor together in one room, to help recreate that energy and sonic connection. A virtuoso violinist and Berklee College of Music alumnus, he has toured with renowned artists such as Regina Spektor and of Montreal before embarking on a critically acclaimed solo career. His 2012 debut album, 151a, earned NPR’s Bob Boilen’s praise as “a radiant, uplifting soundscape” and launched him onto major festival stages, including SXSW and Austin City Limits. In addition to creating cinematic, genre-blending music that spans orchestral rock, city pop, and Brazilian jazz, Kishi Bashi is a storyteller at heart. His 2019 album and documentary, Omoiyari, explored themes of compassion and the incarceration of Japanese Americans during WWII, earning global recognition. He has also scored the Apple TV+ series Stillwater and released the companion album Emigrant EP. In 2024, Kishi Bashi released his fifth studio album, Kantos (August 23), a kaleidoscopic journey inspired by sci-fi, philosophy, and ancient ruins.
