Blackbeard’s Dark X-Mas Party When the lights go low, the season gets sultry. From 8pm–12am, our stage ignites with a wickedly festive burlesque show followed by a live band, a four-hour descent into velvet, glitter, and deliciously dark holiday mischief. Expect luxe costumes, razor sharp choreography, and music that slinks from slow burn tease to full throttle revelry. Antlers, horns, and dark naughty list attire strongly encouraged.

General admission includes entry to the Halloween party, live DJ entertainment, dancing, and the costume contest. The winner of the best costume contest will receive a $250 cash prize. A full bar will be available inside, with a food truck outside. Costumes are encouraged but not required. All costumes must be street legal and appropriate for a public performance venue. All ticket types provide the same general admission access. Lightning Bolt play with abandon that is unmatched and remarkably undiluted since the duo’s formation 25 years ago. They are often called one of the loudest rock outfits in existence, both on record and on (or famously, oB) the stage. Brian Gibson creates sounds that are unexpected and remarkably varied with his virtuosic bass playing and his inventive approach to the instrument, centered around melody rather than rhythm. The dizzying fury of Brian Chippendale’s drums twist from primal patterns into disorienting break beats as his distorted, looped, and echoing vocals weave more melody into the mayhem. Amidst the fray there has always been shreds of a pop songs discernible in the eye of every Lightning Bolt song. For their seventh full length, Sonic Citadel, Gibson and Chippendale have done the daring, stripping away some of the distortion mask to reveal the naked pop forms as never before. Their relentless energy, inventiveness and, unrestrained joy still drive their songs, pulling you in and compelling you to bounce and yes, even sing along.

See the best horror films in Providence and have a spooky good time. We’ll have a fun host, some spooky surprises, and celebrate community filmmaking. The night will end with awards being given out to the best films. Doors at 6pm. When awards are handed out, filmmakers will have time to do a mini Q+A with the audience. Host TBD.

RYAN MONTBLEAU A relentless road warrior and masterful wordsmith, Ryan Montbleau has spent the better part of thirty years cultivating a devoted audience on the strength of his ecstatic live shows and exhilarating sonic versatility. He’s collaborated with artists as diverse as Trombone Shorty, Galactic, Steel Pulse, Tall Heights, Martin Sexton, Anders Osborne, and George Porter, Jr; shared bills with the likes of Tedeschi Trucks Band, Ani DiFranco, Todd Snider, The Wood Brothers, Rodrigo y Gabriela, and Mavis Staples; and racked up more than 150 million streams on Spotify alone. NPR’s Mountain Stage compared his “eloquent, soulful songwriting” to Bill Withers and James Taylor, while Relixcelebrated his “poetic Americana,” and The Boston Herald raved that “he’s made a career of confident, danceable positivity.” Montbleau’s freewheeling new album finds him exploring the full spectrum of his influences like never before, touching on folk, rock, funk, soul, hip-hop, and reggae, all with a preternatural ease that belies the intensely focused craftsmanship behind it. The songs are sprawling and unpredictable, grappling with a modern world perpetually teetering on the edge of chaos, but the performances are relentlessly optimistic, insisting on hope and joy in the face of it all. The result is Montbleau’s most vulnerable and cathartic work yet, an album that acknowledges the inevitability of doubt and pain while at the same time celebrating our limitless capacity for growth and love.
