The Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame will hold 2018’s third and final induction ceremonies and concert on Sunday, April 29 at The Met in the Hope Artiste Village in Pawtucket. Blues great James Montgomery will be inducted and will perform a set featuring material from his 40+ year recording career. Professor Lloyd Kaplan will be honored for his 35 year career as a music educator and his contributions to the music curriculum at the Community College of Rhode Island. In the sideman category, the late, great Paul Murphy will be recognized for his contributions to the Rhode Island music scene and his internationally released recordings with Greg Abate’s Channel One, Duke Robillard and James Montgomery, all of whom will be on hand and participate in a retrospective tribute to Paul’s work along with many musicians from throughout Paul’s career. We will also be inducting three individuals in the “behind the scenes” category for their groundbreaking contributions to stage lighting and design: Bob Morrissey and Andrew Polin, the founders of Polico Lighting, and Polico alumnus LeRoy Bennett whose innovative work with a host of superstars (including Prince, Paul McCartney, Bruno Mars and Madonna, just to name a few) and his spectacular halftime shows at the Super Bowl have made him the most celebrated lighting director/designer in the world.
